Prosthodontics
Removable Dentures
The other dental prosthesis is "removable dentures" which
is indicated for patients with partial or fully lost of natural
teeth and the remaining teeth are not strong enough to support the
denture.
A denture may have a metal or plastic base, usually though an upper
denture will have a plastic base. Fixed dentures indicated for patients
with connect false teeth to the neighboring natural teeth, which
is so called "a bridge", indicated for patients with partial
lost of natural teeth. A bridge allows the dentist to replace lost
teeth without the use of a denture or dental implant.
Basically a false tooth is held in place by being attached to the
neighboring teeth which are strong enough to support the denture.
The disadvantage is that the teeth next to the space have to be
prepared in a similar way to a crown in order to accept the bridge.
